Support Manny

Manny’s story is unique. Many years ago, Manny had a wonderful home with loving humans. Knowing parrots thrive with others of their kind, they brought Manny to MAARS so he could befriend a cockatiel or two for the family to adopt. He didn’t want a friend or two… he wanted the whole flock.

Once he knew he wanted to join the MAARS flock, he hid from his human family. He completely ignored them, pretended not to know them. Heartbroken but wanting to do what was best for Manny, they surrendered him so he could join the MAARS flock.

With very rare exceptions, all parrots need a flock of their own. Even the most dedicated humans can’t replace the companionship of another bird – we simply cannot meet their complex needs. And while we can’t grant them freedom and return them to the wild, we can help them find happiness – though trapped in captivity – with a flock.
