Together we can elevate avian care!

Providing life-changing care and environment for special needs avian species in Minnesota.

Our History

Since  the founding of MAARS in July 1999, almost 1500 unwanted  parrots have  come through our doors. More than 1400 birds have been successfully placed into permanent homes. We’ve consistently grown since then, all thanks to the helping hands of this amazing community!

Our Mission

MAARS’ core function is to care for our flock at our facility, The Landing. Our primary mission is to educate the public, people who already live with parrots, and the veterinary community about the issues that face captive parrots.

Meet the Flock

Pidge is our December featured bird. If you had met Pidge a few years ago, you would have seen a terrified, tortured soul languishing in captivity. She was sad and defeated, living in filthy conditions without emotional, mental, social, or physical enrichment. When humans approached, she would hide in terror; even distant eye contact would cause her to panic. Now, Little Pidge supervises the humans and communicates her displeasure with blustering foot stomps. She's the first to tell us when we're doing everything all wrong and absolutely not afraid to share her opinion of how things should be done.
